You are 5 now! I started this blog before you were born to journal and be able to share with family and friends about pregnancy and life with you as a baby and now you are FIVE! It’s hard to believe but of course I do because I am lucky enough to be your Mom every day.
You are a magical person. I often think and tell people how lucky I am to have you as my first baby. You’ve set the bar high (and I have no doubt you will be reminded of that often by your younger siblings when you’re older!)
You have the purest heart and soul and I wish I could save that forever.
This year has been a big year for you. You began extended day at your school, which meant no more naps and staying at school until 3:15pm. It’s been an adjustment for all of us but you’ve done amazing. You are adjusting to the longer days and already seem older to me. It’s exciting but bittersweet because I do miss you.
You love to use your imagination to play now. You make up stories, dances and imaginary play games with your friends and siblings daily. You still love to dress up and play princesses. You also still love dolls and babies and they often are a part of your imaginary play.
You are so patient with Everett and Edie-letting them have your toys, snacks, whatever it is despite maybe not wanting to share. I don’t even have to ask you. I will forever be grateful for you being so wonderful because it makes things a touch easier for me as a Mom.
We took our first real overnight trip together back to NYC and it was the most wonderful two days alone together. You’re already turning into such an amazing person and I love going on adventures with you.
You still suck your thumb when you’re tired and often twirl your hair too. You basically refuse pants unless they’re leggings under a skirt or dress. I think if you could you’d wear a tiara instead of a headband daily. You’re a great eater and always willing to at least try whatever new thing I ask. You sleep hard and I do think you’d still nap if you could. Sometimes we snuggle on the couch and I can get you to rest your eyes on the weekends.
You love puzzles and drawing. Your drawings are getting more elaborate and detailed, which are so fun to look at now. You’re writing and reading a bit and it’s clear you love it. You fill journals with your letters and have begun putting them together to write words. It’s so hard to believe you were just learning to talk a few years ago.
You are loved and adored by everyone who meets you and you make us more proud every day. We love you to the moon and back, darling Ellery. Happy 5th Birthday!
