Biscuits in the Oven

wannabe farmer lady.

August 19, 2015

I’ve always wanted a vegetable garden (ask any of my friends).  Actually, if I had my way, I’d have a vegetable garden, three or four chickens and maybe even a goat. So, when we moved from the city to the suburbs and the warm weather came around, the first thing we did was plant a garden.  I don’t pretend to know a thing or two about it.  We essentially just went and bought a kit for an above ground garden bed, some organic garden soil and a wide array of heirloom seeds and a handful of vegetable plants that had already started growing (I had no idea if my seeds would actually grow!)

Ellery loved planting the seeds with me and harvesting the veggies (though she’s kinda over picking tomatoes (we have a ton).

Clearly had no idea what I was doing in mapping out this garden!

Clearly planted TOO many seeds and everything too close together…

the garden is HUGE! (even Everett looks like a little mouse!)

Below are some of the fruits of our first garden…quite the success considering how little I know!  Can’t wait to continue learning about keeping a garden and growing delicious goodies for our family to eat!

  • extra naughty these days. too bad my @rothys shoes are basically indestructible, even for coop.
  • Meet “Artemisia Gentileschi”. A beautiful and strong Italian Baroque painter from the 1500s. She was one of the very first female painters recognized for her talent during an era of mostly male artists. So proud of Ellery for participating in her first Mystery History with a full oral presentation in front of the classes as Artemisia. #womenareawesome
